April 1, 2024 - More years to go.
February 18, 2024 - Last bottle and enjoyed it very much. As nice as it is, (smooth, velvety, balanced, fruity)it isn’t worth risking this by holding it this long.
October 16, 2023 - Beautiful but need to drink the last bottle by Christmas. Risk of keeping longer isn’t worth it
June 10, 2023 - Smooth, great nose. Decanted for an hour and improved as the night went on. Even though 10 years, feels it needs about 90 mins to open fully. Special.
February 26, 2023 - Drinking beautifully with an amazing nose.
Not going to get any better. Drink up.
February 10, 2023 - Opaque, dark ruby red. Boysenberries, blueberry strong on the nose. Closer whiff brings hints of vanilla and marshmallow. Clean like a window. Nice mouthfeel, weighty without being heavy. Finish comes on early in a pleasant way - a bit lingering in the aftertaste (more than I'd like, but I'm probably being way to picky). Very enjoyable!
January 3, 2022 - Nice drink
November 28, 2021 - Agree with the 90-120 min decant--bit after that, very full bodied, balanced fruit and Smooth tannins...
October 31, 2020 - Drank Oct 2020 with Beef Wellington. Loved it. Decanted 90 minutes. The nose is so intense and herbal; medium acidity. The palette is ripe and the mouthfeel is full bodied with supple tannins (not too grippy). The best way to describe this wine for me is super concentrated dark berries with a savory and tangy quality, supplemented by moderate amounts of oak. Loved it on the 2nd day even more where the fruit integrates even better with the wood and it all came together beautifully - the high alcohol (14%) did not distract from the cohesiveness. I’m not sure if it has another 15 years ahead of it as WE suggests (but admittedly with the Cabernet and Shiraz backbone, it wouldn’t shock me) but I think it’s prime drinking is another 5-7 years. This was my first experience with Henschke and it did not disappoint.
March 11, 2020 - Deep ruby red in the glass. Decanted for over 2 hours, still very tight. Not much on the nose now besides black fruit and a lick of oak. The palate feels disjointed with the acidity jumping out, highlighting the primary fruit, but not blending in with the high alcohol and potential depth that the wine can offer. Coarse, green tannins are present as well. Give this 2-3 more years to start showing its ability.
