November 22, 2021 - Drank next to an 18 Accendo. Thankfully provided by my friend Brad for this tasting. Clearly infanticide, but also very fun and interesting. Both wines were given 3 hours of air after a double decant, and then 3 additional hours during the tasting. And yes, I must apologize to Shae for explicitly going against her guidance. :)

Even now, at nowhere near maturity, this is an amazing wine. Aromas are more rustic than the Accendo, with underbrush, herbs, blackberries, chargrill and fragrant earth. The palate is the very definition of full bodied, but thankfully not because it is extracted or fruity. It is black fruited, beastly and shows a brooding core of wonderfully ripe fruit with massive savory elements, hemmed in by huge, yet fine grained tannins. At times you feel like you are eating this wine it's so packed and stacked full of absolute goodness. The layers peel back slowly as time goes by, revealing even more earthy character, illustrating the complexity that is not only to come, but present now. The finish is huge and never ending.

As I mentioned in my note on the Accendo, this is the King Kong to Accendo's James Bond. It's a beast that gives you way more savory character, perhaps without quite the same level of regal refinement. They are both incredibly good, and which you prefer will likely be based on your palate preference. I could drink them both all day long. Two of the best 18's I've had.

October 29, 2021 - Kinsman Eades tasting at Wheeler Farms with Shae; all wines had been double decanted the previous day. An incredibly dark blackish purple core; much darker color than the Rhadamanthus and La Voleuse du Chagrin. Notes of blackberry, cassis, bramble and earth; hints of graphite and grilled meat. Medium to full bodied, lush and rather opulent texture, firm and chewy tannins, good depth and a long finish. For my palate, the most hedonistic wine from their 2018 offerings, and should reach its prime drinking window the soonest.

August 23, 2021 - The third and last Kinsman wine that I tried with Shae at Wheeler Farms, but certainly not the least. Deep purple color, beautiful nose and a luscious mouthfeel. Dark and blue fruit with some dusty and earthy tones. Like the other Kinsman wines, this is built to go the distance. 100% Cabernet. There should be some additional fruit for the 2019 vintage so I suggest signing up for the mailing list now.
