July 17, 2019 - Excellent bottle. Dark, inky liquid with a good amount of tannin and little acidity. A reticent wine which slowly succumbed to the air, yielding a good amount of chocolate and bark. Deep, smoky fruit layered within the glass. Too bad we enjoyed it so much - would have likely opened up a bunch more if we gave it more than 3 hours.

September 15, 2018 - Absolutely fantastic. This is peaking now and will stay for 3-5 years. Wow

January 20, 2018 - Excellent. Blue fruited and dark cherry flavors, with elegant entry, ripe tannins and a long finish. It carries a nice energy without being cumbersome or heavy. I have to somewhat agree with Topper's characterization that this wine has not taken on more complexity over the years, and if anything may have shed some depth, but it’s seductive and texturally alluring.

January 7, 2018 - tasted blind against the '01 Messorio, '01 Redigaffi and '01 Ornellaia

nose- prune, menthol, chili or other pepper
mouth - concentrated dark fruited licorice, sunburned/roasted fruit. overdone or past prime. i guessed it to be the Messorio. certainly with prominent concentration, but overall disappointing. I wound up preferring the Redigaffi

November 4, 2017 - Hmmm. I think I liked this more several years ago, but not because it has gotten any worse. More because it doesn't seem any better. Seemed a tad one dimensional in the company of fine bordeaux and burgundy at the same dinner. No doubt about the quality but maybe some question of whether this is the right style for my taste.
