  October 28, 2023 - This is an iconic vintage from Masseto. 2001 was marked by ideal conditions in Bolgheri and a September so cold that it took 4 weeks to complete the harvest.
  
  The nose will never stop changing, floral, raspberry, mushrooms, leather, cedar or even chocolate, it is a tasting in itself and we stay glued to it for hours.
  
  But what is most impressive is the mouth. The texture of the wine is incredible, it's powdery, liquid velvet, coupled with enormous power. The juice is dense, voluptuous and opulent all at the same time, combining great freshness. This controlled power transforms the wine into a model of finesse, full of depth and lace. The richness of the aromas is magnificent, plums, raspberry, mushrooms, balsamic, cedar and undergrowth, it is a real kaleidoscope that the structure of the wine easily supports. Large powdery finish, finely spicy and woody, with a floral length that stretches endlessly.

  October 21, 2023 - Tasted as part of a vertical with commentary by Lamberto Frescobaldi and Gaia Cinnirella, winemaker, simply fabulous with blackberry, plum, chocolate notes, cedar, integrated tannins, still amazingly fresh, on a great plateau I suspect will last for years

  June 30, 2023 - Opened at Otto e Mezzo in HK. Slow-oxed for a few hours before enjoying over dinner.
  
  For me, this probably had the nose of the night - great power, singing notes of dark fruit with hints of red, accented with a slight floral character that I could just smell for days.
  
  The palate was there to match, and my only nitpick that stops this from scoring even higher was to do with this particular bottle than the wine in general: I felt something ever so slightly off with the finish, the flavours quivered a bit rather than staying focused, being reminiscent instead of tawny port and very slight oxidation.
  
  Prime drinking window now however - absolutely gorgeous stuff and would very happily revisit. Will keep at this level for a while, assuming good provenance and storage. That being said, don't hesitate to drink up if you have the itch!

  May 20, 2023 - Served from double magnum: Full nose with fennel, black current. On palate complex, balanced, tannins fully integrated, silky. Wow!!
