September 7, 2022 - Not as good as prior bottles or vintages. Tasted closed. Light body, rhubarb /cranberry notes with astringent finish. Fruit profile has faded leaving dominant acidity. Will hold of drinking additional bottles for 2-3 years.

Guesses;
Italian - sangiovese - Chianti
Misses:
Maybe this acidity was higher than I thought. It seemed very ripe for a chianti so that was a clue
New Zealand PINOT NOIR is very chalky, higher herbal load than other new world pinots andmore moderate alcohol. Perhaps the VA was mistaken but I really think it was there.
