September 21, 2022 - Took to dinner to celebrate our 25th...this wine is still a fascination! Open in bottle for 3hrs...not as enamored with this bottle as previous ones...last had it 6yrs ago...more baked apple ox showing, yet still has that vibrant shiny gold and green metallic color...rich and tropical fruits of pineapple, mango marmalade...waxy banana skin, still CUT with a laser beam of tart lemon and tangerine squeeze...but what really makes this wine special is all the crushed rock minerality in it...it's CRAZY! Chalky and dusty with crushed saline minerality...even seems tannic. More caramel apple, dried honey, marzipan from age...yet still seems like it could go for many more years. Couple bottles left...which might be the only bottles left on earth?

June 18, 2016 - This might be one of the rarest Italian whites around....vines ripped out in 99? and replaced with more Nebb! 10 or so years ago, a retailer was basically giving these away....I ended up buying all they had left...9 or so bottles. I will have 3 left after this one. It is STILL going strong! Golden yellow metallic with slight green shimmer....nose of lemons, marzipan, minerals, pie crust......TONS of mineralogy in this wine...chalky and powdery....but the freshness of the citrus lemons and tangerine really lift it...almost making it spicy like tannins! There is cream and aged nuances as well....little toffee, marzipan, tropical fruit marmalade.....blossom florals, little exotic white honey butter, bread dough with the minerals. Again....this wine is a FASCINATION to me! No signs of any decline....really tasty and different than the Chardonnay I'm use to drinking. Hell....I might even have the only bottles left in existence?!? Fun stuff!

February 13, 2013 - Annual Wine evening 2013 (Restaurant L'Etranger): Very rare and interesting. Slightly oxidative but has enough fruit left.

July 8, 2010 - This wine fascinates me! I might be the only person(w/an occasional friend) in the US drinking this stuff? It is fresh and clean as any newly released Chardonnay......wonderful aromatics of lemon, minerals, tropical fruits, pie crust, marzipan, little toffee. In the mouth its fresh and crisp...yet has a good body to it, young feel. I get tropical fruit, melon, marzipan....wonderful chalky/dusty minerals, and a lot of nuttiness. Good balance of citrus acid, and creaminess....plenty of complexity. Got even better as it opened. And to think, Roberto ripped out these vines for more Nebbiolo??? Too bad.

October 4, 2006 - Pale golden yellow in color. The nose shows tons of tart lemon, apple, mineral, honey butter, pie crust. Steely and minerally in the mouth. Apple, lemon, citrus fruit....that's crisp with acid, and tangy tart. We are drinkin European white here!!! Has some doughness, and marzipan that I find in Euro whites. The citrus and mineralness are balanced well with a little creaminess of some vanilla oak. Throw in some spice, and florals.....and this wine is very interesting and tasty. Clean, fresh, well made!
