    February 14, 2023 - I decided to drink this “last minute” so only had a 1 hr decant and it could have used 5-6 hrs. That said, this a a truly impressive powerhouse “Bordeaux” blend. Delicious red berries, earth and spice on the palate with warm tannins that don’t quit. This score is probably low and should rise as it ages. A superb wine.

    July 30, 2022 - I have now had three of these bottles for the same year, with the same friends and we have all had the same conclusions.
    This vintage seems to be very inconsistent.
    It has ranged from almost undrinkable to pretty darn good.
    This one is in the pretty darn good range. Multiple good aged WA wines drank tonight and this was Wine Of The Night.

    May 20, 2022 - Really lovely balance. Nice dark fruit, good acidity, well integrated smooth drinking, without any width of flab or jam.

    December 31, 2021 - I normally enjoy Figgins but this is the newest vintage I have had. It had the odd flavor of what I normally taste in an inexpensive wine that I believe they do to age them quicker. Never would have thought a Figgins to have this. Drank this with two others and all of us had the same opinion.

    August 29, 2021 - Washington Wine Tasting. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
    Appearance deep opaque intensity, inky purplish black colour. Legs.
    Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of black plums, mulberry, blackcurrant, blackberry jam, thick creme de cassis, dark chocolate mocha, hint of cedar/menthol. Developing.
    On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.8%), soft but high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, black plums, blackberry jam, chocolate, cassis, cedarwood, menthol, sweet spices. Long long finish.
    Very good quality. Big bold go big or go home style. Built for the ages.
    Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

    August 8, 2021 - Three hour decant. Off the bat, bold prune, plum and marionberry. Over time it gave way to tobacco and leather. In five years this will rival the epic '12 vintage of this wine.

    March 21, 2020 - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged 23 months in 60% New and 40% Neutral French oak.
    8 hours in the decanter prior to note.
    This wine needs every minute of air time to unwind at this point in its youth.
    Aromas show cassis, Luxardo, smashed blueberry and blackberry that weave in notes of violets, sage, soft leather, mocha, vanilla, oak spice and fresh pastry.
    The wine displays broadness and density across the full-bodied palate revealing high level structure; lifting acidity, plush-ripe tannins and integrated alcohol. The mouth-feel is smooth and velvety. Flavors of cassis, luxardo cherry, blueberry Danish, chocolate truffle, vanilla bean, violets, herbs, leather, baking spice, caramel and oak play out through the long plush finish.
    Good now, but will get better with time

    February 28, 2020 - For my birthday I decided to open up a few 2016 big Bordeaux blends to see where they are. Of course they were all tight, but it was fun to smell and taste what the next 10+ years will have in store! Lots of concentration of fruit and tannins to think about when I stare at the remaining bottles!
