May 19, 2023 - Barolo Birthday Celebrations: Decanted for an hour. I think this has shut down since I last tried this a couple of years ago. Once the wine finally began opening up towards the end of the night, there were similar notes from my first tasting. A mix of brighter red and blue berries on the palate with forest floor, tobacco, white pepper, and crushed herbs. Unfortunately, everything was really wound up the whole night. There's a lot going on, but everything is competing to be the shining star on the palate. I think this still has all the makings to be crazy good if given time in the cellar. 93-94

December 21, 2022 - Xmas & New Year in Japan; 12/19/2022-1/6/2023 (Japan): Gorgeous nose of black cherry, rec cherry, roses, tar, sweet aged balsamico. Supremely tight on the palate. Lovely, velvety mouth feel and tannin. Envelops the palate - ethereal. Popping berries on the finish. Superb balance of ripe fruit and acidity. On day 2 some black tea character emerged. Just superb.

March 29, 2021 - Pnp and drank over 2-3 hours with the Villero '16. Aromas and palate were very bright with leather and red fruits. Unfortunately, everything was very tight for the first hour. This wine didn't start to sing until later in the night. This is much brighter than the Villero and once it opens up you can see why everyone is raving about this wine. The flavors are extremely complex, there's just so much going on here. I'd be really curious to see what this would be like after decanting for 3-4 hours or on day 2. I prefer the Rocche over the Villero, but only after you give it time for all the flavors to wake up. 97 in 10+ years

January 22, 2021 - The Barolo Boys: Rocche di Castiglione Cru Special with Frederico Mocca & Nelson Bari (67@Home Zoom Tasting): There are only 4m between the Monchiero plot and the Brovia plot who harvest a little later. A little sour fruit and redcurrant nose. Ripe cherry, plum, violet, nice clarity of fruit, fine tannins which sneak up on you. Sweeter fruit here with nice length.
