April 1, 2022 - Festa del Piemonte: Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): Again really towards the end of the evening and so I didn't take such detailed notes. I don't think it was quite the same level as some of the other wines but then again we were drinking some really lovely aged things this evening. It was a good wine and give it some more time.

February 13, 2021 - I think this is starting to get really, really good.

Intense aromas - porcini mushroom, red plum and cherry old leather, mint, menthol, licorice, anise and black truffle. As the wine opens up, non-fruit flavors dominate. The craziest thing is, despite all these intense flavors, the wine feels elegant and harmonious.

We decanted over 4 hours and it changed A LOT. It even shut down for a while only to come roaring back. We paired it with porcini mushroom risotto; but honestly, this could be drank by itself as a wine of meditation.

It's going to only get better from here.

June 15, 2020 - HOLD; developing. Unlike the Brunate in this vintage (which is completely open), this is brooding, and unavailable just now. In the eight months since last tasting this, it's not moved at all. Ultimately, I think this will get to a 'very good' status, but wow is it going to need some rest before it gets there. Still, it'll be quite the triumph if it can achieve the elegance I'm looking for from this Cru. If it lives up to its full potential, this is easily recommended; 2026-2042.

November 26, 2019 - Thanksgiving week in Piemonte; 11/22/2019-11/30/2019 (Milan, Barolo, Alba, Barbaresco): Tasted at the winery. Pretty shut down - hard tannins and not revealing much aromatically or on the palate. I am not sure what was going on but this was not showing well today.

November 26, 2019 - Piedmont II - better and learnings; 11/23/2019-11/29/2019 (Barolo, Alba, others): Despite having the most age of the group this wine to me was probably the least accessible. Just a dark and young little beast. Lots of tannins. There's almost like a black grape juice character to it. Maybe also plum and a riper style of fig. Certain freshness to it. Then the tannin hits you again. Give it some time to resolve. Somehow I think this could be the most beautiful of the group, but it's not anywhere near drinking window yet.
