November 1, 2023 - NobleRottersSydney - <>A$40 blind (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13.84%} [Paul] Per winery data sheet, cs/merlot/cf ratio 62/25/13. Two years in all-new French barriques. And a very precise alcohol reading. Blind note. Still only semi-developed. Dark earth nose; restrained and polished. Dark chocolate, fine oak, hint of mushroom. Very ripe fruit but not too raisiny. Dry palate, a bit austere, medium/full weight, medium chalky tannins. Warm finish. Classy effort. Well over $40, no doubt.

September 30, 2023 - The best bottle yet and it's not at peak, but getting there. Pnp with Ribeye and slightly spicy chimichurri and it killed, & didn't need much airtime to show well on its own thereafter. At $40 from Garagiste one of the better deals in recent memory, I prefer this to most $60-80 domestic Cabs.

July 8, 2023 - Affirming prior tasting notes. Rather subdued at this time. Has hints of a great nose at varying stages of a 6 hour decant and temperatures, drinks well and well out together, silky tannins, etc. but overall fruit expression is disappointing considering Kanonkop’s esteem.

The single varietal cab drinks better and has better qpr.

Will check back in a year…

June 19, 2023 - Pop and pour. Notes from 24 hrs open (unrefrigerated on the counter overnight). On the nose: wild strawberry, sweet tobacco, vanilla and spice. On the palate: elegant and lovely acidity with more sweet strawberry and spicy/sweet tobacco. Soft, velvety tannin on the finish. Excellent already, but will certainly improve with age.

Finished today after several days open (never refrigerated) and not a hint of oxidation. This has decades ahead.

June 3, 2023 - Boom. Elegant with nice chewy tannins that will only make more elegance in time
