February 5, 2022 - Rich yellow color. Aromas of lemon crème, yellow apples, with chalk dust, sea salt, with some floral perfume. The palate shows nice depth but vibrant acidity, and the balance is really nice. Lemons, kiwi and yellow apples mix with honey, almond shell and white flowers. Bright, creamy, salty, pure and vibrant. Classic Virginia Chardonnay.

June 14, 2020 - Just a super bottle. Think old world chardonnay and not Cali. If that's your thing you'll love this.

December 18, 2019 - Vivacious as before, full of sparkle and crisp acidity and nice minerality, and delicious chilled with a faint petillance-like character. Became somewhat thin as it approached room temperature. Drink over the next two years?

August 25, 2019 - At $32 one wonders how this stacks up against white Burgundy and California Chardonnay. 2017 was a beautiful vintage in Norther Virginia with a glorious September -- remnants of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, José, and Maria brought scant
rain in this area of the mid-Atlantic.

13.2 % abv. Flavorful, spicy, medium bodied, and medium long finish, with light scents of lemon zest, cinnamon, and subtle oak (no new oak was used but the wine was fermented in neutral oak barrels.). The palate has the richness and complexity of extended time on the lees, and a vivacious mineral character which opens up at around 50-55 F. A brisk green apple acidity is moderated and balanced by depth of flavor and a light tannic grip.

It compares favorably with white Burgundies in the $40-60 price range and offers a cleaner and livelier but no less complex Chardonnay than comparable Coastal (Santa Barbara or Russian River Valley) California Chardonnay, although some California Chardonnays do also offer a hedonistic lushness not featured in this wine. 91+

Day 2. Even better. The citrusy minerality sings and zings. Occupies a space between a very good Chablis and a truly great one.
