Community Tasting Notes 3

August 27, 2020 - Screwcap, 12.7% alc. Cinsaut 41%, Mataro 35%, Grenache 13%, Syrah 11%. Bright coloured yet cloudy/rusty/opaque red with purple hue.

A cheerful nose of cherry, liquorice, raspberry, and iodine. Tobacco and citrus peel in the background.

Sweet and sour fruit profile on the palate. Plentiful, fine, dusty tannins provide grip on the back palate and prevent the wine coming across as too simple.

Opinion: Very easy to drink a bottle at high speed. Good pizza wine.

June 11, 2020 - In two minds about this. Shows a very animale side at first, really earthy and a bit bandaidy. I put it in the decanter for a couple hours - experience tells me both whites and reds from this producer benefit from air time.
It does help resolve it a bit, and the brett evolves into a more leather/new car-smell. Light colour. A little cloudy. Loads of red cherries and strawberries beneath the earthy mushroomy funk. The kind of brett that intrigues me more than disgusts me. Doesn't strip the fruit somehow and the palate isn't terribly dried out - it's got a lovely balance of acidity, freshness and structure. It's not totally harmonious and together as a wine, and I wonder how much bottle variation should be expected here. This bottle was enjoyable enough for the price.

June 27, 2019 - The most savoury of the ’18 reds with smoked meats, wild herbs and a pleasant earthiness dominating at this early stage. It is layered and red and black fruits are tucked in firmly behind ample structure.
