August 31, 2018 - This was hitting on all cylinders right out of the gate. A huge Burgundian nose seemed to leap out of the glass when first opened. Drinking well now but has many more years of life ahead.

March 14, 2018 - Dinner with Dan H (Provence Restaurant, Albany, NY): [Pop n pour.] On first opening: Big stinky reductive nose. Some green tannins in te mouth. Smoky and simple.
An hour later: Quite different. Appealing cherry and merde nose.Thick and rich in the mouth. The tannins are softer and more appealing. Needs a lot more time. Really impressive for a village wine. 93-??

November 13, 2017 - Blind tasted. Decanted 2 hours. Alcohol and hazelnuts, otherwise discrete nose with hints of kirsch. Tannic, short, dry, not expressive. Hints of tobacco. Either a bad bottle or this is already over the hill....

February 24, 2016 - 2 sessions Wednesday Wine night (Extra Space + Pine Close): Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of smoky earth, sous bois, meat, deep dark red cherries, black cherries. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of deep dark red cherries, black cherries, gamey meat, earthy undergrowth, smoked tea. Long finish.
Outstanding quality Village Burgundy. Complex! Small gripe about the acidity which could be better, but the lovely smoke and meat seals the deal for me. Love it. May be even better in 4-5 years' time.

June 22, 2015 - Recently got out of bond, popped and put in the fridge for an hour, before decanting for another hour. This needs the decant. Tannins are present but integrated well and not invasive to the fruit.

On the nose there was a lovely liquorice note sitting just above luscious black cherries, a heady perfumed note lingers on. The oak is there in the nose, but very much in the background. In the mouth, a hedonistic balance of fruit and acidity with earthy tones. This is a wine beginning to enter it's drinking window. Though there is no need to start drinking it. I will wait a few more years before the next bottle.

It paired perfectly well with the thick slab of medium rare steak.
