January 27, 2023 - Saturated cork with mould on top, top shoulder fill. This pours light garnet in the glass with moderate bricking. The nose immediately leaps from the glass to show red plum, tobacco, spice box, dry dusty soil, blood orange, and bright red cherry. A nose you can sit and smell and enjoy all night. The palate is wonderfully balanced with bright medium plus acid and medium minus tannin, turning to a finish that is perhaps only medium in length but still is tremendously enjoyable. Another consistent and lovely showing from this lesser known gem on the right bank.

July 3, 2022 - An Epic Summer Wine Weekend; 7/1/2022-7/3/2022 (Muskoka, Ontario, Canada): This pours light garnet in the glass, medium bricking. Wow, the nose on this is amazing. Immediately blasts sweet old cedar, spice box, maduro cigar wrapper, charred green bell, wet soil, dried dark cherry, and green tobacco leaf. The palate is totally resolved and lovely with medium minus tannin and medium plus acid. There is a touch of a green bitter note slightly clipping the finish, but that's minor complaint is this quite complete wine. Shockingly good stuff.

February 20, 2020 - Dark red with a brownred rim and quite transparent. Needed to filter it as cork was fragile and fell into pieces during opening.
Mushrooms and autumn forest notes in the nose and also some tobacco and sweaty horseback.
Very well aged and no overly oxidation. Can still sit nicely in the botyle some years although I think it is peaking now.
Fresh acidity and soft tannins with a wide spectrum of flavours, complex, like lilac, coffee, toffee, dark chocolate, hints of brett and smokeyness.
All in all a very well made wine that has lasted 37+ years of maturation in cask and bottle with grace.

September 8, 2019 - tasted at chevalier blind
    all knew it was 1982
fruit mushrooms and earth in harmony, simply fantastic and enjoyable
a few hours later was starting to fade
so drink up without a decant suggested
