March 11, 2024 - [Tasted Double Blind] This pours deep ruby in the glass with light bricking. The nose is rich and extracted in a clearly classical napa valley style. Aromas are of black currant, blackberry, pencil lead, cigar ash, fire pit, charred wood, a touch of eucalyptus and a whisp of mint. Definitely some paulliac vibes combined with touches of mint and eucalyptus, pointing to classic Napa Cab. The palate is densely structured with extracted black currant and ripe blackberry notes on entry. Tannin is medium minus and acid is medium. The Finish lingers nicely replaying much of the nose. I thought this was clearly an old Napa Cab from a classic producer and a 'bigger' vintage. I wondered about something from the late 70s. Really nice showing from this 1985. I usually prefer something more open knit, less dense and darkly fruit but I found some nice appeal here.

September 9, 2023 - My last of bottle of a case bought in auction about 6 or 7yrs ago.
This one didn’t look good; corroded capsule, mid shoulder, the cork came out in pieces. Luckily the wine was totally fine.
    Light to medium garnet.
Very nice, aged and mellow nose. More stewed red berries than blue or black. Some cassis, tea and tobacco leaves.
Light body, everything is soft and mellow. The intensity has faded a bit, but it is still a very elegant and ethereal wine with soft baked red berries, orange peel.
    Very good length.
This is definitely getting nearer the end but still very enjoyable. More similar to an aged burgundy than a Cabernet Sauvignon.

April 19, 2023 - Initially light and lean; opened after 2 hours to velvety tannin and soft sweet blackberry.

April 14, 2023 - Leather, earthy underbrush, dried herbs (heavy on mint), and faint dried black cherry. Some fennel/anise spice shows up on the palate. Smooth, resolved, drinking well. Probably just a couple years left that I'd find enjoyment in this, but supporting structure is in place. Great with dry aged steak
