Community Tasting Notes 8

December 8, 2013 - Medium/deep garnet, medium pale mahogany rim. Nose is quite developed with figgy, autumnal aromas, underlying bright red fruit. Palate is medium bodied, mature browning fruit, fresh acids, some grainy tannins on the finish.

November 7, 2012 - Decanted half an hour. This has a rich, satisfying, complex nose with red cherry, rich earth, sweet tea and truffle notes. There is a sourness to the red cherry which is almost Sangiovese like. On the palate it is medium bodied, with red cherries, some darker fruit notes, rich earth, notes of truffle again, lovely bright acidity offsetting those rich flavours, some persistently firm, grainy tannins on a good length finish detracting somewhat and almost demanding food. Very good indeed, I'm not sure time will necessary help those tannins resolve so probably one to drink over the next 3-5 years.

June 8, 2012 - Deep garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Developed nose, soil, truffle, sweet tea, strawberry fruit. Medium/full bodied on the palate, sweet earthy, truffly fruit, sweet tea notes, complex and quite rich and with lovely vibrant, contrasting acidity. Good length finish slightly marred by some slightly tough tannins on the tail end. Overall very good though.

December 24, 2011 - Deep garnet core, medium pale garnet rim. Nose is quite rich, with some development. Red cherry fruit, soil notes. Medium/full on the palate, this has lovely vibrant acidity running through the core of the palate, red cherry fruit, rich soil notes, notes of almond, the tannins are relatively fine if still a touch firm on the very good length finish. This is excellent, crackling with energy and verve.
