December 29, 2022 - First bottle had oxidized and was bad. Worried that about this one but what a great surprise. Deep color purple almost black. Bold tones of tobacco and berries yet not overwhelming. Wish had let decant more. drink with robust meals.

April 7, 2021 - Sadly a less positive experience than eboracum's note from a couple of months before. Rather like my 2015 note, still youthful, but too disjointed. Decanted, and best over the last couple of glasses on day 3. Poor by both 1998 Bandol standards and indeed most T-L bottles from this period. A shame.

February 26, 2021 - This wine tastes remarkably fresh in its 23rd year. Back in 2009 when I opened my previous bottle, I noted "the aromas showed characteristic red rose and bramble mixed with wet leather and dusty tar and the palate was full bodied, dark and deep with excellent shape building up towards a firmly structured ripely tannic finish mixing some liquorice in with the dusty tar". It is still the same but probably more seamless with an added balsamic touch and moreish acidity. As always with Bandol, it went beautifully with lamb and, more surprisingly, an experimental glass after a chocolate dessert worked well with the acidity remaining in good balance. Excellent.

May 31, 2016 - Cork stuck, had to use an ah-so. Saturated about 1/2 way, but held together.
    C: Very dark, almost black
    N: Tobacco, oranges
P: Decanted. Rustic, notes of oranges, and a slight muddy undertone. Very different taste than the Cline morvèdre, for ex. Best with food.

December 3, 2015 - As others have written, still dark robust with a very clear Mourvedre nose. Full all that, a little short and on one note. Will it improve..........?
