June 1, 2021 - Deep ruby core with minimal fading. Predominant blueberry, tart red berry, soil, and a bit of green. Medium weight, lush earthy feel, lively acidity to balance. Sappy, great fruit with the blueberry standing out, wonderful salinity. Yes, larger scaled than your basic Volnay, but creamy, rich, and not the least bit unwieldy.

February 11, 2020 - Domaine Tasting at Y Clerget (Pommard): Spice filled red fruit aromas. Deliciously round ripe cherry fruit with nice floral and spice accents. A complete wine with good balancing acidity and cut. Long finish. 92-94

February 11, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 1 (Beaune, France): Barrel sample. Vines from 1927. 30% new oak. A step up from the Mitans; this has a little more depth and shows a touch darker. More tannins on the finish, but overall very well balanced.

January 18, 2020 - PoB - Burgundy 2018 En Primeur (Hong Kong): During an En Primeur walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Just like Launay-Horiot, Y.Clerget nailed this vintage as well. Great to see the newer producers/nextGen doing so well. Both Volnays did well, the Caillerets was a bit denser (93) and the Clos du Verseul a bit more airy (93+). Really impressive was the Clos de Vougeot (95) which was dense, fresh and aromatic.

December 13, 2019 - 30% new oak. 100% destemmed. 12 barrels produced in 2018. An expressive array of sweet and juicy red berries, dark cherries, and deeply laced spices. Glossy fruits with proper Premier Cru depth. Firm structure with good acidity. 3.48pH. Will require 8-10 years of ageing. (87+/100)
