June 19, 2022 - Selected for my Father's Day 2022 meal, a bit of Jeckel & Hyde with this wine. I get the curiosity, 90%+ Chardonnay and the balance Sauvignon Blanc in Barbaresco, seemed to jump back and forth between Sancere and oddly enough Albarino, and I never got the sense that this wine had a unique identity. Saline driven nose with citrus zest and some grassy-straw undertones, the palate is at first very melon driven with canned yellow peaches, limestone and grass before opening up with a brighter gooseberry note. Hints of MLF with bitter melon rind and used tea leaves on the fnish, like steeped then strained peppermint that is more herbal than minty after brewing. It wasn't terrible, but not thrilled I dropped 70 clams on this. B (86) evaluation.

June 17, 2021 - So my club decided to host a Gaja wine dinner last night. This was the first of the wines served. A chardonnay and sauvignon blanc which is a rare blend. The nose is floral and peach. The palate is peach and almond and white flowers. The finish was moderate. Served alongside a platter of Italian charcuterie.

October 8, 2020 - Surprisingly good! Had a couple of weeks ago at a fish lunch at Coccinela in Piedmont. Bought a 375ml to try again at home. It‘s very floral, mineral driven with some fine citrus and honey notes. Rather light, but with good depth and length. Would the pricing be more reasonable without the big Gaja premium, I‘d buy this in size. But as it is, I can get better value elsewhere. That said, well done making a great filigrane Chardonnay in Piedmont!
