September 28, 2021 - Corked
July 22, 2021 - Last bottle of this fun and funky #chardonnay from #jura Waxy cheese rind notes with a rich mouthfeel and good acidity. Fresh and juicy and quite pleasant
April 28, 2021 - Second bottle is more funky with pungent cheese aromas and flavors. Quite enjoyable wine
March 26, 2021 - Great wine offering great quality to price. #chardonnay from #jura this is bright and lively for 2015. Citrus fruits with almonds and green olives. Shows how extensive barrel aging can be favorable. Very enjoyable wine that seems could cellar awhile longer.
March 23, 2021 - Classic Jura Chardonnay nose. Sharp citrus, hazelnut, and a certain creaminess. Just a touch of oxidation showing. Carries through on the palate which finishes crisp with good acidity and just a touch of sherry-like character. Very decent for c€8.
February 6, 2021 - Tastes like a great lambic!
January 11, 2021 - Fruit Day - PnP but pulled bottle from fridge 20 min earlier. Served in a Chardonnay glass. Lemon core. Nose of hazelnuts, cashews, Golden Delicous apple, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. On the palate it’s medium bodied with flavours of baked apple, hazelnuts, mineral, lemon juice, salinity and crushed rock. Bright acidity cleanses the palate and the minerality and lemon juice stay on the medium length finish. Quite young but with the intended oxidative character it’s nicely complex even though it’s fresh and bright. Delicious now and certainly worth having around in the cellar for 3 or so years at least.
Enjoyed with baked halibut and it’s an excellent match.
July 15, 2020 - 2015 Marcel Cabelier Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Vieilles Vignes was complex, developing and stylish. The Jura Chardonnay was clear and medium lemon in colour without any sediments. The nose was profound, with notes of green apples, lemon zest, dried yellow fruits and preserved white flowers, accompanied with cream and a touch of hazelnuts in the background. The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied with medium-high level of salivating acidity. Waxy qualities, grapefruit flavour, saline minerality and nuttiness persisted in a rather long stylish finish. It paired well with aged Comté cheese, in concordance with the vague principle that what grows together goes together. Retailed at CAD 21.95 at the alcoholic hegemony of Ontario, it represented remarkable value.
Fellow drinker on CellarTracker made a good connection with Chardonnay from Chassagne for the citrus fruit flavours and the slightly sharper style of acidity. Not much information about the winemaking could be found online. I would expect extended barrel aging for the oxidative and developing characters five years after harvest.
August 30, 2019 - Very impressive for 8€ mature Chassagne like references for me, only slightly oxidative but very well integrated in the wine. Perfect everyday wine for me when in france and such a good food wine. 90+
