April 17, 2024 - Nice, fully developed Brunello. Decanted about 30 minutes before serving. Good with Pasta alla Norma. Not sure time will improve this much more...

September 16, 2023 - Beautiful wine. More of a brooding style of BDM with dark fruits pushing through that handle the acidity and tannic structure of the wine incredibly well. Tertiary notes are starting to come through but this should really hit its stride in 3-5 years time.
August 2, 2023 - Recent purchase and my second Gaja BdM. Liked this one much more than the previous 2012 vintage I tried. Opened the bottle about 3 hr before drinking. Smooth but with very present tannins. This had more dark fruit than recent BdM I've drank. cherry, leather, tobacco, earthy notes, blackberry, black cherry, violet. Alot of life still in this wine.

November 6, 2022 - Savory. This wine is distinguished by an absolutely exquisite integration of secondary and tertiary characteristics, fruit leather, and soy. Drinks densely of dry notes with a distant whisp of brine. Fig and "walnuts" would predominate but for the most exceptional balance present in this wine. One would find it uniform until the delightful interplay of subtleties pop through...an entire range of nuanced little treasures ranging from tiny bright dry cherries, to meat, even blood. This wine is perfumed in the direction of sandlewood and baking spice. Concentration emerges as a factor in this wine too, which drinks easily, but simply can not be thrown back. This wine is a steal at $113...would pair just as well with red meat as it would with lasagna. I love it.
Day 2 brought dark unsweetened chocolate covered cherries and blueberries, a total treat.

July 24, 2022 - Gouté voilà 2 ans et il commence à présenter des signes de vieilissement. Un age parfait pour le boire avec un bon mixte de jeune et vieux dans le même verre.

This is simply a fantastic and beautiful expression of BdM.

Fantastic nose.
Delicate elevation makes this wine amazing! Sangiovese acidity and cherries act as a foundation, surrounded by layers upon layers of oak, caramel, smoke, herbs, forest, sea and everything beautiful. The 1000 needles of fine tannins provide a setting that meritoriously melts all dishes, sauces and dressings.
A graceful and refined lady of the highest rank.
Already available but not close to delivering what it will deliver in a 10 year or so. The next bottle will be many years later. 94 sticks for today with a huge upside for those of us who have a little stock and a hint of patience. Can only love Gaja as the wines are sensitively born at this level. Absolutely crazy wonderful! Standing ovations!
