May 15, 2019 - Acker Auction - May 2019 (Zuma in NYC): I don't always "get" the La Mission, but this here was a very nice wine and of the three bordeauxs seemed to be in the prime drinking window. It's all savory at this point - no fruit really to speak of. Tons of truffle which I ove. Some more herbal side. And this odd like green fern type of note. I happen to enjoy a touch of green in a wine as long as well balanced and this was that. Very tasty.

March 9, 2019 - Pristine bottle, purchased on release by my generous friend and neighbor. Pnp, this bottle was singing out of the gate. Coffee was the dominant note for me, along with tobacco and mint. Quite a lot of supportive fruit remained in this bottle. Texture is perfect for my liking, with what I would guess to be about 25% of the tannin presence remaining. Well balanced and well integrated, we thought it could go another 20+ years to develop more tertiary character and the components suggest it will easily last that long

February 24, 2019 - Initially great nose, but a bit flat after first taste and a hollow finish. Picked up a bit of weight and fruit over the hours, but overall, a good not great wine. Unsure there is much left here given overall lack of fruit.

February 5, 2019 - La Mission Haut Brion with Jean-Philippe Delmas (Vaucluse Townhouse, New York): Not nearly as tannic as many other 1986's. This shows a good firm structure to frame the dark and complex berry fruit. Noticeable fresh acidity. The finish was a bit hollow.

January 29, 2019 - Classic, identical notes to last, needs a lot of air

(Château La Mission Haut-Brion) Bricking dark red violet color; tart plum, rich currant, tart black fruit nose; gorgeous, silky textured, tart black fruit, tart currant, gravel, mineral, olive palate with sweetness; long finish
