April 3, 2020 - I'm so disappointed as i was expecting to love this and find it similar to the recent posts. Sadly i found this a bit too green and lean, and without fruit. Lots of tobacco and aged wood. I felt past its prime. Still. Classic nose of bordeaux and it's always nice to try 30+ year old wines.

March 23, 2020 - Another good bottle but nearing the end of it’s window I think. Acid still gives it some structure but the fruits are mellowing into tobacco and pencil lead flavors.

March 9, 2020 - I didn't decant this and perhaps I should have. The tannins smoothed out quickly and the wine was excellent, but it never fully opened up in the time it took to finish the bottle.

March 8, 2020 - Still good tannin. Earthy nose. Leather, oak and dark fruit. well balanced.I enjoyed this much more than others whom I shared the bottle, who felt that the wine was beginning to tire. Not sure if they had been drinking too much new world wine. Perhaps next time I invite a different group of guest!

(Château Gruaud Larose) Group's #4 (my #3) – 26 pts.; 1, 0, 2, 1 - bricking medium dark red violet color; maturing, tart black fruit, tobacco, leather nose; mature, tart black fruit, tobacco, charcoal palate with a trace of pepper; medium-plus finish (this bottle was showing its age much more than prior bottles I've tried)

(Château Gruaud Larose) Dark red violet color; tobacco, tart black fruit nose; tasty, tart black fruit, tobacco, mineral palate with depth; medium-plus finish 93+ pts. (a second bottle was corked)

(Château Gruaud Larose) Tasted in a flight with the '82 and '89 Gruaud Larose, and this one had a slight edge over those vintages: dark red violet; tobacco and tart cassis nose; good, focused tart cassis, tobacco and iron palate with much smoother tannins than anticipated; medium-plus finish 95+ pts.
