January 25, 2024 - Wine pours a medium ruby in the glass, developing, intense aromas of cherry lozenge (medicinal), amaro (medicinal), black and red cherry, raspberry jam, thyme, sage, earth, lamb's leather, lilac, pastille (lilac), cedar, crushed rock (limestone), chalk, wet stones. In the glass, the wine is dry, high acid, med +/high tannin, medium alcohol, medium bodied, pronounced palate intensity, medium + finish. Getting some VA here, tried after three days- overtly medicinal, either more time or, well... it is what it is. Very nebbiolo in the glass, just VERY nebbiolo- I hope 5+ yrs more would help this out- though, built for the long haul IMO. Good, can drink now (God help you), but can hold for 5+yrs.

August 25, 2023 - PnP. Still pretty tight. Nose is dark cherry, rose, spice, cedar, some tar. It smells like Nebbiolo but it also smells distinctly Oregon (or at least not Italian). Medium body, medium acidity, tannins are still really prominent, but they don't overwhelm the wine. This is impressive, but it clearly needs more time. I assumed it would be too young but I wanted to try it since I'm interested in buying more of the current vintage (since the 2015 is long gone). There's good intensity but it's clear this needs more time to really come together. But as it opens and I taste it more, I'm happy I have another bottle (and I think I will try to get more of the current release).

July 4, 2022 - Red and black cherry throughout with subtle floral, pepper and anise notes. While still slightly more firm than I'd consider ideal, this has a lot going on. I rarely drink domestic Nebbiolo and can't remember another one I have ever enjoyed.

February 15, 2021 - Day 1 was tannic and needed time. 2 days later the fruit is more present with some earth undertones. Fruit leather, strawberry preserves, allspice, dry dirt and some fresh cracked black pepper. Still tannic and can still use time. Tons of potential here.

July 1, 2020 - My first time with this wine.
Rose petal, cherry fruit, and tar on the nose. A good start. Mid weighted with hidden structure, excellent acidity and inner florals. There is an excellent degree of clarity here and a mineral like core to the otherwise focused and beautifully balanced components. Floral and perfumed with red fruits, more roses, tar, porcini, cured meat savory notes, and balsam/ menthol. This has depth and focus as well as deceptive power coupled with grace. Very long on the back end with firm but not mean tannins and excellent acid balance. This drinks like an an excellent producer's Langhe nebbiolo. I would love to stash a few of these away for another 5-10 years. I am impressed.1 person found this helpful Comment
