Community Tasting Notes 23

February 24, 2021 - Big wine that can still benefit from further aging, but its power and dry finish will pair well with a fatty steak..The wine is deep garnet and gives some rose essence, dark cherries, some menthol notes to finish. The wine is not too tight, but the flavors will benefit from some tannin softening.

February 18, 2021 - Tasted over a couple days, this is a really sizable new world blend. Although mostly merlot, to my palate, that is difficult to discern, although it does share some similarities to a solar vintage, modern St. Emilion.

Dark in color, and initially closed, the wine is well served by a decant and allowing it to come up to room temp. It has notes of roasted red plum and strong vanilla oak influence. Relatively chewier tannins than my last bottle a year ago, with medium to high acids. It’s not shut down by any means, but would likely benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar to soften at this point. Resist if you can or decant for at least 3-4h.

January 10, 2021 - Seemed a bit disjointed and flat. About a hour decant but the fruit was very tight, and the acid a bit high. I think it needs more time.

December 20, 2020 - 2 hour decant. Deep translucent cranberry purple. Ultra smooth! Nose and taste of black cherry, cocoa, ash and a touch of vanilla. Great Rutherford dust like tannins. Full bodied goodness. About 93-94 with room to grow.

December 8, 2020 - Quite young but delicious. Merlot-dominant blend and it shows. Dark red fruit notes, velvety with a chocolate finish. Wait to drink, or decant a few hours.
