Community Tasting Notes 6

January 8, 2010 - Still had nice acidity and good structure, but I have to agree with Wine Spectator that the finish left a bit to be desired.

April 18, 2009 - Decanted for at least 2 hours.
Light red color, slightly brownish at the edges. Typical sangiovese nose of earth, pine needles, some tobacco, licorice.
Silky smooth with good midpalate. Good acidity.
Milk chocolate, red and dark fruit on the palate. Medium finish.

March 14, 2009 - decent bottle to drink with italian meal

February 23, 2009 - This was a great Rosso for the money. Not like one of the top-tier Rossos by any means, but had enough of the basic qualities to feel I was at least sitting in an enoteca somewhere in Tuscany drinking the house red. Deep cherry and tar on the nose, not the blackberry you normally associate with Sangiovese. Cherry was almost sweet but the taste dried out nicely to some medium tannins on the finish. The bottle was pretty good at first pour, but was better after an hour and held up well overnight in the fridge with some gas.

Would buy again at the price.

January 10, 2009 - No score on this one as I wasn't being particularly attentive when drinking it. From memory, it had a nice nose of mushrooms, leather, cherries and a bit of plum. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't quite as exciting. Much of the same characteristics as the nose, but the fruit was a bit forward and ripe. Absolutely nothing bad here, and for $15 it's a decent everyday Italian wine. I think that I'll try this with a meal next time out to see how it shows. If I were to score I'd say 84-85.
