January 7, 2018 - PNP with a friend last night and wish we would have decanted for an hour or two. Gorgeous raisin color and nose. Tons of leather and tobacco and definitely would have guessed this to be a French wine in a blind tasting. Tannins were barely present/almost gone. That said, this wine really opened up and drank better after we let it breathe for 30-40 min. I think there is a bit of time left for this vintage because the quality is so good but I’m not planning on waiting long for my last two bottles. Really lovely wine, looking forward to the next one.

December 21, 2017 - Nice to see this great vintage of Dominus still going strong with delicious dark berry fruit and lovely hints of eucalyptus and tobacco. Finishes full and complex with excellent richness combined with Bordeaux-like restraint. Decanted for 5 hours prior to consumption which might have been a bit too much.

December 12, 2017 - Acker BYO 2017 (Tribeca Grille): Again a wine that screams new world in an evening that was generally filled with old (funny because it's all relative, often I find old Dominus feels almost old world). Lots of black fruits. A bit more intensity than I expected. Very balanced. Touch of alcohol, but quite to go away. Good wine.

November 17, 2017 - A beautiful example of mature, classically styled, California Cabernet Sauvignon. The texture is lush, the tannins are smooth, the fruits are ripe, sweet and fresh, the perfume offers a delectable mix of leaf, dark cherry, blackberry and earthy notes with just the right amount of tobacco. This is at full peak maturity. All it needed was a pop and pour.

August 22, 2017 - Wines of Good Hope: Summer 2017; 7/29/2017-9/14/2017 (River's Inlet, British Columbia): Terrific bottle. Tobacco, red cedar, rustic but with vibrant black and blue berry juice still. Creme de cassis. Nuanced. Hard to categorize as old school California or '90s Left Bank. Palate is definitely juicer and weighs in favour of Napa Cabernet, but does reinforce the tobacco note. Good bottles of this are always pleasurable and intriguing.
