February 13, 2024 - At Boston Wine & Poker, Needham, Mass.: Tasted blind. Light and clear red with no browning. Slightly grassy aroma, with some smokiness. Some tannin, and a cherry-pit bitterness.

July 23, 2023 - Terrific wine. Right in its drinking window, well balanced, aromatic, properly developed burgundy. No need to wait, enjoy now or in the next few years. Nothing is out of place here. Delicate fruit is complemented by the earthy notes, mushrooms and the forest floor. Medium finish.

December 22, 2022 - This bottling has always been too soft and lifeless for me. Not a bad wine but no lift or jump. Boring. Seattle w/MD

September 21, 2021 - Decanted with sediment in last oz after standing for months. Light ruby, slight bricking; aromatic, deeper fruits with red cherry, black cherry, slight strawberry, slight spice; palate is light bodied, medium alcohol 13%, medium acidity, short mid palate with some fading fruits; finish is medium-minus. Deeper black fruits than I expected it, though not out of line for a Beaune 1er cru. Drinking at peak, good value for everyday drinking but a bit short for the next tier. 89

August 14, 2021 - This had a pleasantly perfumed nose of wild berries and foresty/gamey notes that opened up a bit after a while, entry was very soft, broad, dare say flabby, although almost silky soft; medium tannins that were slightly dried out in the finish, low acid. In great shape despite the above, just a warm year with lower pedigree v.y.'s. Still, a pleasant easy drinking Burg. Never been a big fan of Beaune du Chateau and this shows why. With BBQ burgers

April 25, 2021 - There really is a lovely purity of burgundy that is evident in this bottling. Red cherry fruit, iron / minerals and warm earth. Mid weight with vibrant acidity makes this a wine that just calls for the dinner table. Combines sytength, elegance and approachability in a nice package. Bring in QPR and you have a top flight winner. I like this wine. (91)

February 11, 2021 - I recall thinking that this was fully mature in 2009. Nope. Medium ruby. Smoky dark red fruit and menthol. Medium weight, pungent fruit, and some tannin remaining. Very good and not done yet.

January 29, 2021 - A pretty wine, everywhere you look. A straightforward, rich nose of ripe strawberry. Taste follows through: an impression of sweetness (without being sweet), yet some deeper notes to fill the back of your mouth ... maybe a bit of clove in your cherry cola. Just enough tannin to grip without cloying. I have a hard time matching this with food. Ah, I've got it ... smoked pork tenderloin with a sweet glaze such as mango ... or how about teriyaki salmon or chicken? That'll play off the sweetness just right.
