February 8, 2014 - Still going great. Good acidity and balance.
July 3, 2013 - This wine is crisp and simple. It starts with the flavor caramel and finishes with pear, apple and citrus.
November 12, 2010 - Light straw color. Nose is mostly green tree fruit with some citrus. The palate is yeasty and tart and a bit bitter on the finish. Very good, but not great.
June 6, 2009 - Disclaimer: I love this wine. Not as a critic but as a fan, this is my favorite non-DVX wine Mumm has on the shelf today. Now, as a critic, I've gotta throw down: this wine is disappointingly one-dimensional. It's crisp, it's tart, it's citrusy, but just as I love Sauvignon Blanc for those traits, I have to take Devaux Ranch down a peg for its lack of complexity. It is kind of a one-trick pony (OK, two, cuz it sparkles). The flavor profile it has opens the door to a great variety of food pairings that are obvious and pages long, but while that makes it a very good wine, it doesn't make it a great wine. I think an extended tirage version of this wine could be incredible as supporting notes to the clean-cut citrus could really develop. Looking forward to seeing how this ages, too. Until then, I'll go with an 89.
March 30, 2009 - Good
March 16, 2009 - Acidic and crisp, with a winey California fruit profile, not chardonnay, not pinot, but a sort of blend...pinot meunier? Tasty now, after open a day picked up weight and again that generic fruit character. Drink in the short term.
February 2, 2009 - Very nice bubbles, balanced fruit (citrus and some sultana) and yeast, but with very strong acidity robbing any sweetness. Great with food, but I'm hoping another year or so in the bottle mellows this out a bit. There is strong potential here.
June 8, 2008 - Nose and flavors of pear and honeydew melon. Nice acidity, and not as effervescent as many sparkling wines. Excellent - 89 points.
June 1, 2008 - Drinkable now.
March 31, 2008 - Had this bad boy with salmon burgers marinated in lemon juice, parsley, salt 'n pepper, along with some baked beans and broccoli. One of my favorites from Mumm.
