October 19, 2018 - Rich amber golden colour; mature and rich nose, has lost most of its varietal typicity, but there is still a hint of lychee, honey and spice, candied fruit, nutty but fresh, like an old German Beerenauslese; the palate is rich and rounded but fresh, with lovely, life-sustaining 1996 acidity, off-dry, still juicy; on the finish it is a bit long in the tooth, a bit tired, tails off. Very interesting, and quite stunning with a marbré of foie gras and smoked eel. Holds up well on the second day, but drink up.

July 25, 2016 - Opened this for Christie's bday dinner. Decanted for 1h. Amber color. Rich honeysuckle, roses, camomile, apples, peach and apricot, tea. Palate follows with a rich mouthfeel but w enough acids to keep this from being cloying. On richer/sweeter side but nicely complex esp the tea component. Not as exuberant as younger gwtz that I've had. Much more enjoyed this than a young gwtz.

July 17, 2014 - Just wow. Very deep golden colour - this was ready to go with only 5mins in the glass. Perfect bottle from my cellar and served in Riedel sommelier burgundy glasses. Very big in the mouth with a huge and long finish of lychee leading to dried apricots which ends with vitality and a slightly saline finish. Completely different nose of caramel and wet earth. Superb complexity and the acidity keeps drawing me back for more. A literally mouth watering wine. I'm having the rest of this bottle to myself! At peak, but will hold 5-10yrs. I love this wine!

February 1, 2009 - Drank from a split. Initial shy nose, which turned into some litchi, caramel and lots of apricot after a 1/2 hour. In the mouth the it was quite viscous, and fairly sweet, just shy of vendange tardive. Lots of apricot, well balanced, long finish and enough acid to continue to hold.

Demi bouteille.
