A mature meaty, ferrous, savory nose with bouillon, iron, porcini, balsam, and dark nebbiolo fruit. Full bodied, muscular and a little rough hewn. with more of the same bouillon, porcini, balsam, and ferrous, earthy notes on the palate. A muscular, honest wine with outstanding balance and length and firm tannins on the back end. This wine has character. A terrific pairing with the ribeyes FWIW. This is fully mature at his point. I doubt it will fall off a cliff anytime soon, but if this well store bottle is representative, it is also unlikely to improve . 92 -

January 28, 2014 - Drinking nicely now, if a little understated. Not an especially flashy barolo. Classic notes of tar and red roses, in a medium-bodied format.
