But the one I had in 2019 was mind blowing good. This one had the classic markers of Benetiere, lean, spicy and pure fruited. It didn’t quite have the depth and effortless finesse that I had from the early bottle but had that same type of weight. I think I should have given it significantly more air as over the night the fruit became brighter and more insistent. So if you feel like opening one of the rare bottles you have, I’d definitely recommend a long decant.

  Poured into a decanter at 9am in the cellar. Poured back into the bottle at 6:30pm. Popped the bottle around 7:30pm and consumed over the next four hours.

  Simply put. Incredible wines. As pure inky black and blue fruit as you’ll ever get in Rhone. The wines are backed with a fresh minerality that keeps the profile effortless for consumption. The 2014 is more accessible now. On pop and pour the 14 was accessible but the 2013 was fairly shut down. The air helped both tremendously but much more the 13 than 14. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
  The 2014 I felt had a more elegant fruit profile as a leaner vintage. Plenty of clean beautiful fruit and a spicy peppery note on the back end. The nose is filled to the brim with smoky ripe black fruit and pepper. But I just keep going back as the fruit is bright and persistent deep into the finish.
