August 23, 2023 - Deep, intellectual, and masculine Syrah with a savory boost. Very Cornas-like!!
June 4, 2023 - This has developed very well! Fruit on the nose. Dark berries, pepper, bacon, blood on the palate. A touch of floral elements - maybe due to the Viognier. This really comes close to a very good Cote Rotie!
March 6, 2023 - Really starting to come in to its own. Leather, bacon fat, currants, and black pepper. I'll get the last one another year. Excellent
May 27, 2022 - Very nice, especially for the price. Opened up over 2 hrs. Will keep the 2nd bottle a few years.
July 21, 2021 - This is at least the third time I have opened a Desire Lines wine, and been immersed in a vortex of savory. Each time it’s different, but it’s always an experience of intense umami depth. This time it’s Syrah, and rather than just the deep black fruit and red meat, it’s also a feeling as if I am sucking the marrow from the bones of the wine. Sucks that I only bought one bottle of this, as the depth makes me want to know what happens with 5 or 10 more years of age.
May 11, 2021 - Nose of dark cherries, black plum, and raw beef. Sweet black plum palate with coffee, macadamia, very dark chocolate, and rich soil. Medium tannins are supple but bold, riding over a rich soil note and adding some dry purple fruits and a touch of oak.
January 28, 2021 - Just gobs of meaty, gamey cherry goodness but a lovely lifted floral perfume. I continue to be impressed with Syrah from this team.
October 6, 2020 - Wow -- caught us by surprise -- excellent -- like a cote rotie -- excellent value. More intense than expected
October 4, 2020 - I continue to be impressed by this producer and this vineyard!
July 19, 2020 - Very poised and focused. Desire Lines + Shake Ridge is a winning combination!
