September 8, 2023 - This has put on some weight since my last bottle. Deep strawberry fruit, cedar, spice and cured meat on the nose. Mid plus weighted deep and beautifully balanced. More red and dark fruits, licorice, spice and savory meaty- ferrous notes all beautifully framed with firm acidity. Finishes with ripe firm tannins that cut the fat of tonight's flank steak beautifully. Youthfully delicious. Drink or hold for many years.

January 22, 2021 - WOW this is structured with minerality! First thing I noticed was the crushed rock quarry(iron ore) in this...somewhat edgy and crunchy with that limestone the grapes are grown in, as well as iron...which someone mentioned 'metallic' and I can see that...not in a bad way though. Very bright blood orange and sour tart cherry skin acidity that livens the beautifully silky and liqueured dark red berried fruits...youthful snap for sure, yet there is a pleasing elegance to it, as well as a bounty of complexities...oak spice(yet the wine sees only neutral oak), earthy tar, red licorice, cigar wrapper, plum pudding, dried rose potpourri. Seems like this will age for a long long time with that structure, balanced for the long haul. Another eye opening, tasty as hell Italian wine curtesy of VDLT! +pts

November 15, 2020 - Delicious Chianti Classico Reserva. This is the first taste of the 2016 Montefioralle. Great memories of visiting this winery in 2015. This will be even better with time.

July 24, 2020 - Inky deep garnet robe.
Heady aromas of violet, roses, nutmeg, black cherry bouquet with secondary notes of leather and black tea.
Slightly astringent attack, dark plum, dark cherry mid-palate, savory black olive finish.
Refined tannins, light body. Lovely old world wine.
