November 15, 2022 - Perfumed and lifted noise- recognisably Sangiovese with rasperry and cherry, some earthy wet mud note, some leathery tarry note is quite prominent too.

Quite lean on the palate - even dilute- no richness and quite hollow on the mid-palate. Bitterness on what’s quite a long finish. Pretty disappointing.

September 10, 2022 - First impressions good tertiary aromas of ash and woodland. Prickle of bubbles on first night - why is this an Italian problem? Good acidity med tannins. I felt it faded, and didn’t really stand up to food surprisingly (lasagne, ravioli). Expected a bit more from press reviews, but still good.

September 8, 2022 - Aromatic, red fruit and a bit of oak. Elegant. Brisk acidity balanced by fine-grained tannins. Long tangy finish, with a nice mix of savoury and dark fruit.

August 29, 2022 - I thought that this was really excellent, especially for the price paid (£19 delivered) from the Wine Society. Was drunk over dinner so no proper tasting note, but I was surprised at it's complexity - despite being just 4 years old it was no fruit bomb, with some genuinely secondary/tertiary notes kicking in (as well as the supposedly trademark Emilia-Romagna Sangiovese anise note at the end, as promised!). Medium bodied, fine (but present) tannins - should be good up to ~2030.

September 9, 2019 - Modigliana - Stella dell'Appennino (Modigliana (Forlì)): Part 1 of the Mutiliana project: the same sangiovese clones cultivated in 3 distinct valleys for 3 products with their own personality and characteristics.
Variegated solis, with marls, sandstones and clays, give the wine a complex, and fine personality, for a full, chewy taste, with a promise of a good ageing. The wine is well structured, also if still very young.
