April 7, 2021 - NobleRottersSydney - Blind Options something unusual (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 14.5%} [Stephen] Purple colour. Big porty/fruity nose with minimal oak evident. Perhaps a whiff of white pepper. The palate is much finer-boned than the nose suggested, with blackberry flavours, low powdery tannins, medium acidity and a shortish finish. Has a slightly hollow feel to it somehow. I think a bit more time would help this, although the disconnect between the punchy intense nose and more dilute palate jars a little.
April 1, 2021 - dark fruits with restrained oak, balanced tannin, nice acidity. a bit of mint/herbs. overall balance is just great.
February 22, 2021 - Sage, dried herbs, licorice, cedar smoke. Dark fruit.
December 19, 2020 - Nice Spanish table wine for a weeknight. Red fruit, vanilla, some tannins.
November 24, 2020 - I was disappointed. It had some nice fruit flavors, but I had 2 issues:
- not very well balanced. Very high tannins. Felt like every ounce of moisture was sucked out of my mouth.
- The minerality was off the chart. To the point that it tasted metallic.
DGMW, I like wine with minerality, but this was over the top. This wine definitely needs food, something with some fat and iron, like red meat. It also could probably use some aging to help it mellow.
Several reviews on another site stated that it was a tad pricey for the quality. I don’t disagree with this. As I said, maybe some age would help mellow the tannins, but at $30/bottle I’m not sure I’m willing to make that bet... I mean for $60 (the cost of 2 bottles), I could get something outstanding for now or for aging.
November 2, 2020 - I have no specific complaints about this wine, but there is a huge range of more interesting wines at the same price point ($20-25).
June 5, 2020 - Dark fruits, wood spice, a touch of vanilla, nice mouth watering acidity. Balanced oak. Drying tannins but in balance. Great balance of fruit, tannins, acid.
