February 4, 2022 - Wow… Merry Edwards Pinot Noir! I have enjoyed many of these bottles and thought it was high time to write some proper notes. Merry Edwards is one of the most highly respected names in winemaking. For 20+ years all Merry Edwards wines (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc) have consistently been rated at the top of nearly every professional and amateur chart. I understand Merry Edwards Winery was purchased by Louis Roederer in 2019 and Merry Edwards retired in 2020. Again, WOW! I opened the 2017 Meredith Estate Pinot Noir on a Friday night—after a long, cold, snow/ice/rain work week in February. Sitting next the fireplace--a round plate of cheese and pepper-crackers, and a large class of what many say is Merry Edwards flagship wine. Next to the fire, dark ruby and purple colors danced in the glass. Letting this sit a bit, I picked up a lot of spiced fruit—red, blue, and black. Each swirl and sip added more flavors and complexity that I can only describe as luxurious. The flavors go on and on with perfect balance—both soft with violets/berries and intense with woodsy/forest floor/roasted spices—truly a delicious wine. When you taste this wine, I suggest you take a big sip and let it coat your whole mouth. This is a very well made and an extraordinary wine. Merry Edwards is quoted as saying, “People frequently ask what is the best wine I have ever made? I tell them it’s not made yet!” I will save and splurge on more Merry Edwards for sure. Congratulations to everyone on the Merry Edwards team… Wow and cheers!!

October 13, 2021 - Great balance of herbal and red fruit notes. A bit on the heavier / full bodied side with vanilla oak as well.
