May 26, 2018 - Characteristically Hirsch. Layers of dark flavors, fruit, earth, herb. Yum.

February 1, 2016 - Mild cork taint diminished the otherwise nice core of dark fruit.

March 18, 2015 - We really enjoyed this; lots of layers of fruit, beautifully integrated and smooth

April 5, 2012 - Good, but a great example of poor QPR. Better wine experiences out there for half the price. Fairly fruity, balanced, just a tad spicy. Very drinkable, but nothing profound going on.

April 29, 2011 - Very reticent nose. Length is quite nice, both in length and composition. Shows hot as the wine is opened...

April 11, 2011 - Fantastic - this could age a few more years and took over an hour to open up but when it did it was something.

December 9, 2010 - Dark red color with a light purple hue around the edge. Fruit on nose is muted behind a subtle forest scent that I can't get my arms around. It isn't just oak. Almost like dead pine needles on the forest floor. In the mouth, mostly candied strawberries and ripe cherries. Not overly complex with a slightly tart finish. Mouth feel is relative light. This is an enjoyable wine but I am somewhat underwhelmed for the price point.

November 25, 2010 - Cherry pie in a glass. People seemed to love this, and I thought it was nice enough, with that good Pinot twang and some sappiness. A bit limpid and dull overall though. Not big and over the top. Not subtle and complex. Just sort of caught in the middle.

April 29, 2010 - Mixed feelings. with a triple cream brie it sang for a bit but then lost its voice. It faded to harsh tannins and heat. For the $ I am more than a little disappointed in the wine. For the steak course I opened a 2005 CDP, DDLA Charbonniere Cuvee Speciale, and there was no comparison. It was not even a close race. And the CDP was cheaper. How do you beat cheap, fun, and complex? Not with a cali wine I think.
