December 31, 2023 - Barbacesco. Not my favourite but here goes. Looks ruby and thin in glass. Red berry, nutmeg, no funk or organic decomp. Pleasant nose.

Acid with sharp tannins. Not much mouth feel. Almost thready. Strawberry and rose petal. Nice enough.

Edit: day 2. Opened nicely actually. A pleasant damp wool and cinnamon aroma developed. Tannin and acid integrated well with some oxidation. Same floral palate. Nicer day 2. Hence the increase in score.

December 22, 2023 - Decanted 2+ hrs, drunk out of a burgundy glass.
Nose: Perfumed and earthy. Good and honest.
Taste: On pnp it was quite acidic - pleasantly zingy. Everything evened out over time, and after decanting I still get nice acidity, dried cranberry, dried Chinese plums, umami - I'd say like a mushroom kind of note, very sandy (almost velvety) tannins, and a 20 second finish. The Winesearcher general descriptor says "savoury and classic" which I think is apt.

I'd bet there isn't nearly enough fruit to wait out the tannins. It's possible that this could be decent with more age without the fruit but I just don't have that kind of experience to say. For now I'll call this a food wine and a decent QPR for the $30 paid. Would not buy again.

October 21, 2023 - Floral with cherry on the nose. Decent complexity and finish. Tannin showing up near the end of the bottle as the food started to run out. Very drinkable now (1 hour in the carafe). Great QPR and would love to pick up more of these. Paired nicely with beef short ribs.

May 17, 2023 - Decanted 3 hours. Upon decanting, pleasing light leather bound book color w/fragrant plum nose. Initial pour, Flavor of ripe berries, soft acidity w/great legs. Went well with Soppressata & sharp Provolone & Chickens Parmesan
