April 15, 2023 - Colour - pale purple. On the nose - spice almost a hint of cherry. On the palate, none of the lacticity of previous bottles, sour cherry, marzipan, almost cranberry notes. The heat of the alcohol is in balance but definitely present here.
October 30, 2022 - Opened after the 2010 Riserva - this is probably the wrong order. Initially a little awkwardly plump following its leaner older sibling - a certain lactic character on the palate - but when I got used to it, more pleasurable. Again - pleased to have a few in the cellar, and I can imagine in a year or two it will round out and develop just a bit more secondary characteristics to make it interesting.
September 19, 2022 - Colour - a bit more purple than the Produttori which preceded in. On opening, tightly coiled, cherry stone sour and not a great deal else going on. Quickly opened up, some savoury notes, one can definitely sense the alcohol but it's not unbalanced. By the time we got to the last glass this was really singing. Again - no rush but definitely enjoyable now.
September 24, 2021 - Wonderful Barbaresco with bouquet of cherry, leather, and rose petals, lovely soft tannins, and lingering finish.
July 29, 2021 - Give it about an hour and this is very approachable. Light body that has sweet tobacco cherry flavors , would give it a higher rating but the finish was a bit short. This will improve with time but right now its a 92 and drinking well.
April 25, 2021 - Primary fruit, mainly wild berry and Marasca cherry and also some raspberry, lots of flowers (blue and roses), some asphalt. In the aftertaste there's some tobacco and menthol.
Maybe a bit weak in the middle register but delicious.
90++
December 7, 2020 - Very tightly coiled, muted. Think this was slightly corked - certainly far less enjoyable than expected, or other notes would suggest.
October 31, 2020 - Exceptionally beautiful nose on a translucent magenta wine. The wine smells of powerful menthol with an underlay of red flower. In an earlier note, Eric Guido pointed to pine resin and that’s a good observation - whatever it is, it’s a signature smell for the wine. Prominent and elegant - yet in a markedly feminine wine. Four hours after opening the menthol (or pine) smell was front-and-center. Bright red fruit, assertive but fine, grippy tannin which became more powerful the longer it was open. This is quite a beautiful wine - it is drinking beautifully now and should develop nicely for ten years. It is the equal of the 2016 Produttori normale though the two are very different.
May 21, 2020 - eye: A light tawny color in the glass, thin well spaced out drops
nose: violet and leather dominate
taste: well structured tannins, some acidity, medium lingering finish. Pretty earthy with cherry.
Could use another couple years.
March 31, 2020 - Nose of cherry and spice, some earth..
Flavor profile is mostly the same with a fair amount of drying tannins...
This was a PNP....think it needs air time to develop ...
Definitely needs more cellar time... room for improvement as the structure is there to be a very good Barbaresco...
Today 90 pts.
