August 11, 2022 - I’m just not a New World Chardonnay fan, except for when it’s with the right food pairing. This comes off as way too oaky for me on PnP. The oak does dissipate a bit in the glass after 5-10 minutes, but it’s still over done for my taste. It was supposedly aged in “old” oak barrels, but I don’t get this degree of wood in burgundies, at least not in the last 20 years. The wine maker spent some time in France, as one does, and thinks of this as French style, but it’s clearly New World. That said it is a bit light bodied, a touch acidic and green compared to most California chards, and I suspect it was fermented in cool temps with not all the fruit undergoing malo.

March 14, 2020 - The elegant nose includes aromas of under ripe apricot, green apple, tart pear, lemon curd, slate and flint minerality and lemon zest. This promises to develop some nice, deep nutty aromas with five-plus years of bottle age. It's medium to full bodied with round, plush and zippy acid - the tension that runs through the center of the structure is beautiful, balancing a nice creaminess. Green apple, pear, sweet lemon and lime citrus and white pepper mingle together. It finishes on a ginger note. Gorgeous now, but offers tremendous upside with five to ten years of aging, if not more.
