Community Tasting Notes 11

January 9, 2021 - Citrus fruits, grass, seashells, butter and elegant notes of popcorn. The nose is full with broad shoulders and great depth. Still the overall impression is a light sea breeze kind of Chardonnay that means business. Marzipan, lime and some pretty notes of flowers develops with time in the glass.
The palate delivers the same notes with some additional tropical fruits. Compared to the '16, which I love, it's not as energetic and the acidity is more laid back. No problem at the right temperature (10-12 degrees) but a couple of degrees above that and it gets a bit unbalanced and clumsy. The oak is definitely there but as always very skillfully crafted. I think this need a few years rest but with that said I don't think it will go as long as the '16. 3-5 years seems appropriate.

January 4, 2021 - Match reduction tries and mostly succeeds to hide a pretty nose of lemon and chamomile. Crisp with bright acidity and a fine mineral spine supporting citrus flavors. Very good. Let rest another year or so to better resolve the reduction (or decant if drinking now) and then enjoy over the medium term.

October 17, 2020 - A chard to pair with Tex mex. Just the right balance of clean fruit, piercing acid, fresh minerality, and light oak treatment.
