February 23, 2024 - very good with a smooth balanced approach. Only a short decant needed. Time in the cellar helped this mature

May 11, 2021 - 2 hour decant. Fruit bomb. I get boysenberry, blackberry and graphite from this vineyard. It is excellent now.

May 23, 2020 - Drank from sample bottle at the B Cellars Zoom tasting. Tasted the 2017 vintage of the MH, To Kalon and the GIII.

Wow over 100 people on the tasting call and not one note!

First I'll say we had a 2015 B Cellars Missouri Hopper open as a control. The 15 was its usual silky beautiful 95+ self, that we've had and reviewed many times.

None of the 2017s could compete with the 2015 MH!

All were smooth, with decent mouthfeel and balance. To me the MH showed a little fruit and meatiness, at least enough to push it to a 92. Others in our group preferred the To Kalon. I thought it was Ok and maybe also a 92. The G3 was the weakest of the group and maybe a 90-91.

I absolutely love B Cellars wines and Kirk Venge's style but these high end 2017s just aren't as good as the previous 2 vintages. At this point they seem to lack the energy, distinctive and beautiful fruit profile of the source vineyards and the mouth watering accent spices. They are just somewhat flat - at least to me.
