Très long. Une belle pièce en devenir.

March 29, 2021 - PnP and drank over two hours with the Rocche '16. Aromas were amazing right out of the gate! Lots of florals and blue/purple fruits. The palate was very approachable. Tannins were really refined, which was surprising since this is such a young Barolo. Got a lot of lavender and blue fruits throughout the night. Shut down a little as the night went on. I'd be curious how this would taste on day two. Definitely a unique Barolo and one that will get better with time! This will be a 95 in 10+ years. Prefer the Rocche to the Villero because the palate seemed brighter and it evolved and opened up more as the night went on.

March 5, 2021 - This shares the same cool pure blueberry as the rest of the lineup. Large scale, half shut. Still dances on the palate. Solid length with some astringency. Should have decanted. Solid young buck

December 30, 2020 - We paired this with a white truffle risotto that was a match made in heaven. Each bite with a freshly shaved white Alba truffle my wife got me for Xmas. Each sip of this wine seems to shift & morph in a lovely way. Initially bright red fruits follow with floral & licorice notes along the palate before the tannin comes in & then a more herbal rustic side to the wine comes out and stretches into the finish. If you have more than 4 of these, I would encourage anyone to check in on one of them now. This is flat out delicious. Having said all that, there has not been a sip of wine that I have not followed with a spoon of the risotto & white truffles so that could heavily sway my impression here. There seems to be enough fat in the risotto to nicely balance out the tannin. Bravo!!

December 28, 2020 - Slow-oxed for 18 hours prior to serving into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“Root” to “No” day): Pale purplish ruby to be eyes, though arguably deeper than the other cuvees alongside.

From the start already clear that this has a lot of complexity based on fruit to add to the game. Tarry and roses. A linear palate and very good stuffing.

2nd round: very strong fruit support.

3rd round: this round Rocche wins both on nose and palate... This is a very good botte but head to head with the incredible Rocche this is overshadowed. 94 points.

(For the experimentation of blending the Rocche with Villero refer to the notes on Rocche)
