September 20, 2014 - The 97 Vigna Chinera by Elio Grasso is a Nebbiolo surprisingly structured for the vintage. Nose with moist earth, dark tart fruit, leather, but also finesse. On palate similar image, textured, beautifully dry, pleasantly firm tannins, inner tension, earthy, red & black fruit, dried herbs and rose petals, powerfully masculine, defined; very good, rather tart fruit length. Ends on tannins and earthiness. Years to go.

November 26, 2013 - Took awhile to open up... dusty cherries, earth, mushroom... typical Barolo. This can safely sit for another 10 years easily and will likely soften a bit more. However, it's pretty nice right now.

April 7, 2013 - Nose of black cherries, black tea; on the palate still well balanced structure of tannins, notes of red berries, anise and tar. Long finish.

October 30, 2010 - @ Cafe Italia (Ido's): What a wine! so better than few years ago.
Open for 1 hour, then needs more time to open up and improve.
Very good piedmont nose, red fruit, opens up and improves in the glass.
Palate very balanced, masculine, Monforte style (I said so blind tasting it), red fruit,
power, balance, very dense and still holding back a little.
This is an extraoddinery effort that will improve for 3-7 more years. It shows what we
could have expected from 1997 without the international style wave. Drink now-2017,
wait at least till 2012. myscore 93-95.

October 9, 2009 - Still a young wine and pls be patient for another few years with this one. Still abig bottle which opened nicely as time went by. The fruit is there and it has the punch you expect from a good barolo.
