September 11, 2020 - Decanted 3 hrs. While I liked the bottle I had in shelter in place May, a much more complete package was revealed last night. Fairly dark for a Fox Pinot, emitting a very pretty nose of dark raspberry and white flowers. Based on the color, a not so surprising thrust of fruit initially hits, spreading it’s layers of sweet strawberries and pomegranate on the palate. Deceptively soft, as the easygoing nature turns on the back half; a much more serious structure emerges, a firm tannic and acidic structure that wasn’t apparent at first. My final thought is this a very refreshing pinot that will drink young well, but look for this to round out even more in the next 1 to 3 years and hold for 10.

August 21, 2020 - I tend not to drink many new world wines these days, but I was charmed at a pre-covid tasting of Kelley Fox wines. I recently purchased a bottle of her Mirabai Pinot. I found that after two hours that wine gained in complexity in the nose, revealing floral, red fruits, and a faint note of conifer. The palate was sweet cherries with a herbal finish and smooth tannins. Very enjoyable.

July 30, 2020 - We’ve been crushing these and enjoying the heck out of them. Great Texas summer drinking. Concentrated red fruits, almost sappy on entry—but plenty of fine acidity giveing this back bone. Chalky finish. Seems like an early drinker but it also isn’t even old enough to shed its baby fat. A little more forward and sappy than the ‘17, I think.
