August 4, 2014 - Weekly tasting group #129; Portugal (@ SB): Garnet rim. Pleasant barnyard and some eucalyptus in the bouquet. On the palate chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, autumn and earthy impressions, leather, tobacco, full bodied, good acidity and soft tannin. The wine is completely ready now, but no real hurry. Drink before the end of 2015 is probably the wisest thing to do.

October 18, 2008 - Showing a little bit of age. Light to mid bodied. It really brings out the most "blue" elements of the goat cheese im having with it - nice. Interestingly, really did NOT work with aged Manchego. Nose has hints of strawberries, black cherries and raspberries (but not ripe at at all, more dusty). Maybe best when first opened and at cellar temp. Showing slight alcohol.

February 20, 2008 - Jeroboam Club Tasting: Wines of Portugal (130 Cheltenham Road, Bristol): Deep plum ruby colour. Creamy oak on the nose, with raspberry ripple icecream, but also some smokey, gamey and leather notes. Forward. But unassertive on the palate, lacks grip. Slips down well with a reaonable finish. Perfectly pleasant, inoffensive, nice enough but lacks character. A middle of the road wine, AOR, REO Speedwagon.

October 11, 2007 - Blend of Aragonez, Alicante, Periquita, and Trincadeira. Tried this baby with a recipe for Portuguese Chicken. Not so great with the food but excellent with chocolate. Rich dense dark fruit, very dry with a cutting bite. A smooth long finish. It is like a more subtle Zin with a dryer finish. Actually I take back what I said about the chicken. It was the dish that was not so good, the wine actually filled in some of the flavor gaps missing in the food.
