April 22, 2024 - In a great spot right now with a 2 hour decant. Brambly fruits - blackberry and dark raspberry, something a bit woodsy, and really nice chewy tannins that kept on through day 2.
    Lovely.

January 9, 2024 - Spot on, comparable to the 2012 MRV. Red fruit opening to Marion berry accents, hinting at complex, identifiable MRV terroir components.
With some air, noticeable depth. Firm structure, impeccably balanced, elegant tannins. Everything exhibiting how this claret style offering will further blossom in a couple years. Definitely can go 10. Will look forward to this in the future, very nice. Wish I had another. 1 of 2
*Decanted 375ml in lab bottle for day 2. The fruit usually develops & the structure tends to integrate. Here the fruit receded & structure really took over. Have been surprised either way before, so here it is again …

January 1, 2024 - OK. Similar to previous bottle. Maybe I expect better from Monte Rosso. Did not blow me away

June 1, 2023 - Quick decant. Broad bouquet of black raspberries, blackberries, red cherries, and lemon zest. Red cherry and red raspberry start the palate with a burst of energy, with a tart cherry component developing and lingering on the tongue. Acidity drives the finish more than the tannins, pushing the red fruit into a savory zone of thyme, chive, peppercorn, menthol and oak. Drinking great now and should be good another 5 years at least.

May 12, 2023 - 3ish hour decant. lovely brambly red and blue fruit on the nose. Blue fruit throughout, texture with a bit of oak spice on the finish. Surprisingly open with the little bit of air. Drinks gorgeously, but structured enough for a long time.

April 4, 2023 - Charming slightly tart—think not quite ripe--. red fruit on the tip/edges of the tongue. A very pleasant savoriness—more Syrah-like than Zinfandel. A medium-bodied wine with a similar leanish mouthfeel. Acid, alcohol, fruit and tannin all seem to be well-balanced—none of those dominate. I think this is one terrific wine.

January 26, 2023 - Opened an hour ahead of spare ribs dinner and aerated my nto glasses. Lighter texture and flavors and fruit. Slight tea finish. Not my fav.

October 3, 2021 - A touch too early for this one, but is well balanced and stuffed with flavor. Good now, great in 5-7 years.
