Community Tasting Notes 3

February 15, 2023 - Opened one hour in advance. Rich aroma of black fruit and bramble. Robust mix of flavors includes blackberry, black pepper, and tar up front, licorice mid palate, smooth cassis finish. Intense, complex, young, firm backbone. Classic California zinfandel, it packs a punch without being over the top. 14.7% ABV.

May 11, 2020 - Really a very nice and pretty Zin. Very varietally correct with brambles, stone fruit, earthy notes, and some spices, and has that (to me) signature flowery quality of Humboldt Zin. John has done a wonderful thing by planting Zin up on his estate, and these vines are only going to get better with age. I might need to get a few more of these now that I've tried one.
