April 15, 2010 - Clearly a hidden gem, "who'd-a-thunk" wine. Although I recall an early-'90's Boeger Cab Franc that grabbed my attention nearly 15 years ago and more recently, a Gold Hill Merlot that was quite noteable, I always assumed those were flukes. That said, this is at least the 3rd vintage of this way under the radar winery's Cab, which has impressed. I was first introduced to this producer from a friend who's their "#1 Fan" and concurrently, when I was way into Grenache; of which they had what I considered the ideal location and climate (in the higher foothills and so, with plenty crystal clear sunlight and more importantly, a propensity for chillingly brisk nights - all the better to foster that great acidity, required for Grenache's fresh vibrancy). My interest in Grenache faded, just as the winery entered a rough patch; manifested in a bevy of mediocre to just not very good offerings. Ironically, in the midst of which I was presented with their '01 Cab (essentially blind) and couldn't believe/accept that I was drinking an El Dorado Hills wine. This '04 was initially "shy" but with only 30-40mins, the aromatics popped and the (similarly) vibrant fruit flavors shone through; displaying a combination of bright, briary wild berries (think Dry Creek Vyds Cab) with nice acidity (again from the cool, foothill nights) and sweet, punchy tannins. A solid offering and a simply enjoyable wine.

April 1, 2010 - This winery continues to impress w/ consistent value priced wines that are good for any occasion. Beautiful right out of the bottle. Very balanced and continued to develop as it opened up. Tannins let you know the backbone is still there and it will improve but it is drinking great right now.

September 21, 2008 - Excellent wine. Smooth, balanced with fruit, earthy depth, and tannins into the finish.
