December 3, 2022 - Blueberry and chocolate on the nose. Dark fruit with molasses starting to show on the palate. Saved some for the next evening and overall was more enjoyable and more balanced. This one appears to need a little time after it is uncorked. Tannins were still noticeable, but did not impact the experience.

February 27, 2022 - Enjoyed pre, during and after dinner with the HMCs.....decanted 30 min and enjoyed thereafter with a nice blueberry/floral nose and great berry fruit on the palate. Lively acidity and excellent balance at this stage. Maybe the WOTN early on or at the least tied with the B Cellars. Finishing what's in my glass now, after open to air for 4+ hours, there's still blue/red fruit, but the acidity is just a tad harsher than early on. Very surprised and also very happy with how this one bottle performed. The club price of $72/bottle cannot be beat. A small glass left in the decanter, chillin' in the cellar, to see how it performs tomorrow.

Addendum: Wow! I have GOT to start paying more attention, peeps....for the 3rd time in 3 weeks I left a solo glass of a wine we opened for a dinner 2 nights ago, out in the open to gather more air, but this time not on the kitchen counter at room temp rather in the cellar at 56-59 deg and in an open decanter not just, cork in bottle. 52 total hours of air.....AMAZING! This has retained its Franc floral nose, a hint of cocoa dust and added a whiff of confectioner's sugar, too, which when combined with the cocoa dust feels like white chocolate to my olfactory cells. I was prepared for a tired or stale old palate on first sip, but again, no way Jose! This wine is fresh and has completely held together over the last 48 hours. Truly a testament to the fruit and the winemaking skill of the 'legendary' Mr. Chris Carpenter.....mid+ weight in the mouth, upfront cherry but integrated and in no way jammy, the fruit while strong has fully settled in with maybe a hint of blueberry remaining to the fruit also. There is a touch of fine-grained tannin remaining and the acidity that was prevalent 48 hours ago is now perfectly balanced with all the other elements. This was a total surprise and marks another great '14 showing very well, right now. I'd give it a 95 now.

May 29, 2020 - With a two-hour decanting, I was still surprised how "hot" it was. Paired with the Bandera Restaurant (love this place) Beef Rib/Chicken combo, the tannin felt like dust on the palate.
With 90% CF and 10% ML, the taste of graphite and fig was obvious. The 15.1% alcohol was softer over the course of dinner, but wish I added another hour more of decanting.
